What It Takes

  • Experience That Counts: At least one year of experience in residential childcare child protection or therapeutic work with the ability to engage both in a team and independently.
  • Knowledge That Matters: A solid understanding of the Childrens Homes Regulations The Childrens Act and Childrens Rights is essential for providing the best care.
  • Qualifications That Make a Difference: A QCF Level 3/4 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) will ensure you are fully equipped for the role.
  • Skills to Connect: Theyre looking for someone who can engage with young people in a positive proactive way staying calm under pressure while being empathetic reliable and a good listener.
  • Practical Abilities: Strong communication skills excellent time management and the ability to assess and manage risks are key to success in this role.
  • Flexibility and Commitment: Youll need to be open to working flexible hours including sleepins Bank Holidays and stepping in to cover for other homes when needed.
  • A Few Extras That Help: Familiarity with Quality Standards IT literacy a valid driving license and experience in shift leadership or childrens residential care are great bonuses!
