Job Description
BUYER (Permanent)
Our client an international manufacturing company with its US headquarters in WNY is looking to hire a Buyer to join their team.
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily responsibilities ensuring the flow of materials from suppliers in relation to production/shipping schedules as well as departmental necessity
- Assess material requirements to reduce shortages and expedite ordering process to ensure fulfillment in a timely manner
- Review Production Schedules Exception messages and manual ordering systems to determine material requirements and implement changes as necessary
- Manage ERP system updating purchase orders and shipping/delivery dates for customers sales orders
- Collaborate with other departments to determine supplier quality
- Assess suppliers ontime performance sending corrective action plans to those not meeting expectations
- Manage inventory levels keeping supplies instock to ensure optimum & timely performance including levels at other facilities
- Work alongside other departments to develop and implement cost reduction strategies
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with vendors beginning with initial purchase contract negotiations
- Handle all issues and returns to vendors occasionally meeting with them to resolve problems
- Conduct research to properly advise on customer and production requests within a timely manner
- Analyze current processes/procedures for areas of improvement in an effort to streamline efforts and reduce lead times
- Work well in a team environment as well as independently
- Complete special projects in a timely manner juggling several at a time with ease
- Other duties as assigned/as necessary
Details:
- Position is full time; direct hire
- 100% inoffice
- $70000 $80000 annually depending on experience
- Bachelor s degree in Business or Management
- Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified in Planning & Inventory Management (CPIM) preferred
- 2 years relative experience in purchasing
- Strong computer skills specifically Excel (pivot tables formulas filtering etc.)
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Strong technical skills
- Selfmotivated
- Relocation not available
