Job Description

The Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources (OER) is seeking a full time Energy Program and Policy CoordinatorFacilitator to support the Administrator of Energy Legislation and Programs in implementing and administering OERs programs and policies conducting legislative duties and coordinating community engagement and outreach efforts on behalf of the agency.

The Energy Program and Policy CoordinatorFacilitator will be responsible for the following objectives and tasks:

  • Assist in the administration of OERs federal home energy rebate programs by processing rebate applications responding to customer calls and emails about basic rebate and application questions collecting and entering data in databases and maintaining accurate records of confidential and valuable information.
  • Prepare and update the weekly state legislation tracker.
  • Prepare and update the federal grant tracker.
  • Draft letters and testimony for RI House and Senate committee hearings.
  • Assist and attend RI House and Senate committee hearings on legislation at the State House which are scheduled in the late afternoon/early evening hours between Tuesday and Thursday from January until the end of June.
  • Draft letters of support for grant applications.
  • Assist with the development of quarterly/annual reports websites presentations and other communications.
  • Regularly review OERs website and work with the communications team to update the website with information related to federal grants federal and state legislation and community outreach.
  • Plan and staff press events and community meetings which may include evenings for community outreach meetings and/or events.
  • Attend regular meetings with regional energy working groups RI state agencies and federal and state elected officials and staff.
  • Assist with monitoring and tracking federal energy funds that OER is working with the Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank to implement.

It is preferred that the candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree
  • 12 years of experience working in a professional environment
  • 12 years working in a government setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite especially Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with data collection and management
  • Ability to coordinate projects from starttofinish working independently while seeking support from leadership and collaborating with OER staff key partners and stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adhere to deadlines
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Client Name: RI Office of Energy Resources

Position: Hybrid (3Onsite & 2Remote)

Note:OER has a hybrid work environment. A successful candidate will be expected to attend workrelated meetings in Providence at least three days per week. Evening availability between the hours of 5 pm and 8 pm will occasionally be required for the legislative session and public meetings and events. The Energy Program and Policy CoordinatorFacilitator will report to the Administrator of Energy Legislation and Programs.
