Job Description

Command & Control Support Engineer:

Supporting products for the Emergency Services nationwide. An Engineer who can technically contribute to the full range of skills involved in second line support to critical Police systems.

You must have a good understanding of application coding and system architectures.

Demonstrate good customer service skills and work as an individual or part of a pressured support team.

The individual will be required to work within a dedicated support team to handle both reactive work caused by problems and the proactive work required to enhance the businesses ability to achieve SLAs within cost delimiters.

The importance of the command and control systems means any planned activities and upgrades are normally implemented outside of normal hours as the systems are operational 24 hours a day. Also a required for out of hours support on a rota.

The individual will be responsible for developing and managing documentation and procedures to ensure records are maintained and demonstrate their added value to incident resolution.

Travelling will be part of the role as there is a need to occasionally visit Customer sites for problem resolutions system upgrades or meetings with Customers spread around the country.

 


Qualifications :

Essential Skills

SQL Server and Cluster failover

HyperV

Windows Server 2012 /16

Windows 10

 

Desirable Skills

Experience of bespoke application support.

Configuring PCs installation and configuration of software.

An understanding of Lan/Wan Hardware and Architecture.

An understanding of TCP/IP and Network protocols.

Windows and networking.

ADSL connectivity.

Remote Access Service (RAS) or Windows (RDP) .

Use of Call Management Software.

 

Good understanding of ITIL Support processes.

Security vetting will be a prerequisite.

On the Job Training will be given where appropriate to responsibilities and skills levels.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate a preexisting right to work in the UK. Documentary evidence will be required.  All offers are subject to satisfactory vetting and reference checks. Depending on the nature of the role a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check may also be required.
