The Facilities Management Energy unit implements energysaving upgrades to lighting building envelopes and mechanical equipment in DCAS manage buildings. The unit also tracks and benchmarks energy usage in DCASmanaged in order to monitor consumption and efficacy of energy reduction programs. As well as implement the Demand Response Program in both summer and winter months. This program helps the electrical grid which in turn helps prevent blackouts and/or brownouts during highenergy peak times.
The Mechanical Maintenance and Operations/Energy (MMO) group is responsible for the preventive maintenance repairs and operations of various mechanical systems in DCASs portfolio. It is accountable for mandated heating systems inspection and fire suppression systems. The MMO Unit maintains all heating ventilation and air conditioning equipment for safe reliable and efficient operation including seasonal tuneups filter belt steam trap replacement and lubrication and reviews drawings with design engineers to ensure building efficiency. In addition the MMO Energy group operates and maintains critical Energy Incentives for the Mayor 80 x 50 Plan.
Responsibilities:
Test maintain and replace various types of building controls related to HVAC systems BMS and other building systems
Check existing control installations to determine the nature and cause of trouble and make necessary repairs and/or adjustments
Use pneumatic and/or electrical devices to check control installations
Make necessary adjustments to equipment set points
Install and repair direct digital controllers
Work with the commissioning agent to oversee new installations
BMS Programming
Qualifications :
(1) An associate degree in electrical construction and instrumentation electrical engineering technology mechanical engineering technology electromechanical engineering technology or electronic engineering technology from a college or university accredited by regional national professional or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) AND one year of fulltime satisfactory experience within the last ten years in the installation maintenance and repair of electronic instrumentation and control systems including microprocessors and electrical and pneumatic instrumentation and control systems; or
(2) Graduation from a trade technical or vocational school approved by a States Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization with a major course of study in electrical electronic electromechanical or mechanical technology AND three years of fulltime satisfactory experience as described in 1 above; or
(3) A fouryear high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a States Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization AND four years of fulltime satisfactory experience as described in 1 above.
College education leading to a degree in one of the areas of study described in 1 above may be substituted only in 2 or 3 above for a maximum of three years of experience at the rate of 30 semester credits for one year of fulltime satisfactory experience.
Driver License Requirement: By the time you are appointed to this position you must have a motor vehicle driver license valid in the State of New York. If you have moving violations license suspension(s) or an accident record you may be disqualified. This license must be maintained for the duration of your employment.
1. To be assigned to Assignment Level II candidates must in addition to meeting the minimum qualification requirements noted above possess an additional one year of fulltime satisfactory experience as described in 1 above for a total of five years of experience.
2. To be assigned to Assignment Level III candidates must in addition to meeting the minimum qualification requirements noted above possess an additional two years of full time satisfactory experience as described in 1 above for a total of six years of experience.
License Requirement:
2. At the time of appointment or assignment to Assignment Level III employees may be required to possess a Federal Communications Commission license for
radio repairs.
