Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Coal Technician to join our team in a fulltime permanent position based in Paget QLD. In this role you will play a vital part in ensuring the accurate and timely preparation and analysis of coal and related samples adhering to international standards.
Additionally this position will involve supporting shipping operations at the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal contributing to the efficient handling and processing of coal shipments.
Your key responsibilities in this role will include but are not limited to:
- Provide and maintain high quality accurate and timely work.
- Perform duties of all routine shipping and exploration project sampling preparation and analysis.
- Ensure everyone is aware of the safety environment.
- Assisting with preventative maintenance and calibration of preparation equipment.
- Prioritisation of urgent samples and the ability to work in a fastpaced environment.
- Operation of analytical manual analytical and preparation equipment.
- Compliance with analytical methods procedures and SGS Quality Systems.
- Contributing to a safe workplace by conducting risk assessments addressing hazards and implementing improvements.
- Maintain a high standard of general housekeeping.
Qualifications :
SGS is looking for candidates who come from a fastpaced background. The successful candidate will possess the following:
- Coal sampling preparation and testing experience preferred but not essential
- Good computer skills Excel proficiency beneficial and previous experience with data management programs (highly regarded)
- Previous experience in general mineral laboratory environment preferred but not essential
- Ability to work on rotating shifts
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and meet tight deadlines
