Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

  • Establish strategic goals and direction for the component and material management teams.
  • Component Maintenance
  • Oversee the selection and management of material, component and vendors and drive for successful negotiations of agreements that secure favourable terms.
  • Manage maintenance warranty claims to maximize warranties received.
  • Material Management
  • Direct the stores and distribution departments in support of the airline operation including establishment of budgets, material distribution strategy and contracting philosophy in alignment with required business outcomes.
  • Manage material warehousing operations and facility design.
  • Develop policies and procedures to establish optimum inventory levels, effective station allocation of aircraft parts, efficient re-order points for expendable material, and establish adequate management controls to secure and maintain the proper inventory levels.
  • Define Technology strategy and resources for the E&M team
  • Manage cross functional investment strategies for system improvements.
  • Lead management system improvement initiatives through process improvement, skill enhancement and tool development.
  • Influence across company strategies and provides strategic recommendations to enterprise leaders.
  • Develop people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on fostering strategic and systems thinking, development of talent, and succession planning across teams and functions.
  • Influence company culture through action, presence, and integrity
  • 1. Material Planning and Procurement:

  • Demand Forecasting: Analyze production schedules, sales forecasts, and historical data to predict the material requirements for upcoming production runs or projects.
  • Supplier Management: Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors, negotiate terms and prices, and ensure the timely delivery of quality materials.
  • Purchase Orders: Create and manage purchase orders for materials and components based on production needs and inventory levels.
  • Cost Control: Monitor material costs and identify opportunities for cost savings while ensuring that quality and timelines are maintained.
  • 2. Inventory Management:

  • Stock Control: Oversee inventory levels to ensure that materials are available when needed but not overstocked. This includes managing raw materials, components, and finished goods.
  • Inventory Audits: Regularly conduct physical inventory counts and audits to reconcile with system records, ensuring accuracy and identifying discrepancies.
  • Warehouse Organization: Supervise the storage and organization of materials in warehouses or distribution centers, ensuring that materials are easy to locate and access.
  • Inventory Turnover: Monitor the movement of materials through the warehouse to reduce excess stock and minimize the risk of obsolescence.

Desired candidate profile

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in aircraft engineering and completed with major in supply chain (CIPD certification is an advantage)
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in one or a combination of the following:
  • Complex supply chain management,
  • Repairing airplane engines or components,
  • Maintaining aircraft in the same category and class as flyadeal
  • Experience in low-cost airlines highly preferred
  • Must have experience in pool and repair agreements, inventory management
  • A minimum of 4/5 years of people leadership experience, preferably in airline operations.
  • Capable to handle pressure and stress from operations
  • Ability to take direction from superiors and act as a team player
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and exercise good judgment and decision making where necessary.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, time management and follow-up skills.
  • Good analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Creative and innovative thinker in relation to problem solving.
