The Release of Information Specialist is responsible for coordinating the release of health information at Osler by applying legislative requirements specific to personal health information.
Accountabilities:
- Extensive communication and interaction with internal clinical and administrative areas physicians external agencies lawyers etc. as well as our patients and their families
Qualifications :
- Graduate of an accredited health information management program with an active membership with and certified by the Canadian Health Information Management Association
- Knowledge of legislation associated with release of information such as the Personal Health Information Protection Act and the Public Hospitals Act
- Minimum of one year experience in a release of information position in a health information management department required
- Experience using the Meditech medical records/correspondence modules required
- Familiarity with other Osler clinical systems such as ImageNow PICIS Perceptive Content and REACH portal
- Must have a good understanding/knowledge of standard health information practices and procedures preferably at Osler
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to interact directly with physicians lawyers and other external agencies as well as our patients and their families and internal units/departments
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and make decisions within the scope of the job
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and coordinate requests received to ensure continuity of patient care in a timely fashion
- Enjoy working in a busy and sometimes pressured environment
- Excellent attendance punctuality and work record
- Ability to travel between and work at all Osler sites as assigned

This role is Fully Onsite: Roles involved in direct patient care that are needed onsite for each shift.
Hourly Rate:
Minimum: $28.78
Maximum: $31.57
