Job Description

As a Senior Software Engineer in Hotels and Holidays you are responsible for the delivery and development of the software systems that power our business unit. As a highly skilled software developer youll have experience in coding with and mentoring other technical team members to deliver high quality welldesigned software.

The role will share a large amount of responsibility for the quality of the software being built including but not limited to: achieving desired business outcomes; meeting reliability and performance expectations; safely managing security and data privacy concerns.

Senior Software Engineers use their depth and breadth of experience to help guide the team with a strong sense of pragmatism: knowing how much design work is enough how much testing is enough to maximise team efficiency. You will spot code design problems early and lead the work to address them.

What youll bring to the role:

  • 7 years of experience as a professional software engineer (typically)
  • Experienced software engineer with indepth understanding in most or all of the following: Agile and Lean software development practices Continuous Delivery Continuous Integration automated testing best practices DevOps
  • Indepth expert knowledge of core technologies required for the role including TypeScript/JavaScript CSS and HTML
  • Clientside programming frameworks specifically React.js with a focus on the latest features and best practices using TypeScript
  • Familiarity with the Next.js framework for serverside rendering and static site generation
  • Experience working on/with UI Component Libraries and/or Design Systems is advantageous
  • Proficient with automated testing tools and libraries specifically for React and Node.js ecosystems
  • Good knowledge of important software design considerations for React and Node.js
  • Serverside programming using Node.js expressiveness with modern features of ES6 applications
  • Knowledge of cloud computing platforms AWS and services relevant to React Next.js and Node.js deployment
