This is a permanent position within the Site Services team at the Element Six Global Innovation Centre (GIC) in Harwell
The team supports the activities at the GIC with facilities management machine installations maintenance and repairs. It is a multiskilled team covering a wide range of disciplines such as building upkeep electrical installations machine maintenance control systems vacuum technology hydraulics and pneumatics.
With this role we are looking to reinforce the team with an experienced multiskilled facilities technician who enjoys combining handson installation repairs and maintenance work with contractor management and project work deliveries.
Duties and tasks
Routine PPMs for facilities such as water flushing/checks and checks of emergency lighting alarms and other safety checks
Repairs and servicing of boilers AHUs calorifiers and other facilities equipment hands on or using contractors as appropriate
Repairs to office furniture fixtures and building fabric.
Minor electrical and plumbing installation and repair
Machine coolant checks
Contractor management including inductions safety plans and performance evaluation
Own and coordinate work packages for service upgrades and installations
Produce review and update risk assessments operating procedures and equipment documentation for the work at hand.
Review procedures work practices and maintenance plans for improved cost effectiveness
Demonstrate professionalism quality awareness and an active engagement for high safety standards
Actively seek to develop depth and breadth of skills
Qualifications :
NVQ HNC B.Tec or similar formal qualifications in an engineeringbased discipline
Experience (ideally also qualifications) in 2 or more areas such as electric installations plumbing heating ventilation or carpentry.
Experienced and proficient in upkeep and fault finding of facilitiesrelated equipment
Experienced in safe contractor management
Good general understanding of health safety and quality standards and ability to carry out risk assessments and write operating procedures to a high standard
Good communication skills within a team environment when working under pressure.
Good IT skills with proficiency in standard office software and experience using CMMS and BMS software. Knowledge of software for data acquisition treatment and processing an advantage.
