Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Deputy Head of Primary for an August 2025 start.

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and dynamic leader with a strong understanding of primary education and a commitment to fostering a stimulating and inclusive learning environment. The Deputy Head of Primary will support the Head of Primary in the effective leadership and management of the school ensuring high standards of teaching learning and student achievement.

The Deputy Head of Primary will work collaboratively with teachers parents and the wider school community to create a nurturing and engaging learning atmosphere. They will play a key role in curriculum development staff mentoring student welfare and school operations while promoting the schools values and ethos.

The school founded in 2016 is a K12 international school located at the foot of the picturesque and historic YuQuan Mountain Haidian District in Beijing. The campus is 200000 square meters of beautiful gardens that integrate natural ecology cultural heritage and modern beauty with 140000 square meters of green space.

The school curriculum is organized into the Elementary School (grades K5) the Middle School (grades 68) and the High School (grades 912). Under the guidance of the Ministry of Educations nineyear compulsory education program the curriculum is built on the strengths of both Chinese and Western education.

For Elementary and Middle School the school follows a bilingual program using the US Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards along with the Chinese National Curriculum. For High School the school follows the US Common Core and College Board AP curriculum and also offers the UK IGCSE and ALevel UK programs.

Qualifications and Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Fouryear degree from an accredited university
  • Bachelor of Education PGCE Teaching license: QTS national/state teaching license/certificate or equivalent
  • At least five years of teaching experience with at least three years in a leadership role within a primary school setting
  • Experience in an international or bilingual school is preferred

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Primary in the overall leadership and strategic direction of the primary school (Grades K5 ages 511).
  • Oversee the implementation of the curriculum ensuring alignment with international best practices and school objectives.
  • Provide instructional leadership and mentor teachers to enhance the quality of teaching and learning.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress and implement strategies for academic improvement.
  • Foster a positive school culture that promotes student wellbeing inclusivity and a love for learning.
  • Lead professional development initiatives and training sessions for primary school staff.
  • Collaborate with teachers students and parents to address individual student needs and concerns.
  • Play a key role in the recruitment induction and retention of highquality teaching staff.
  • Support the development of school policies procedures and assessment frameworks.
  • Organize school events assemblies and extracurricular programs to enrich student experiences.
  • Manage operational aspects of the primary school including scheduling resource allocation and staff deployment.
  • Act as a liaison between the primary school and the wider school leadership team.
  • Represent the primary school in schoolwide meetings and strategic planning sessions.
  • Stay updated with developments in primary education and integrate innovative teaching methodologies.
