Job Description
The Senior Database Administrator (DBA) will oversee the management performance and high availability of organizational databases. This role demands advanced expertise in database systems including design optimization security and troubleshooting. The Senior DBA will ensure databases are scalable efficient and secure to support critical business applications. Additionally the position involves mentoring junior DBAs and collaborating with IT teams developers and business stakeholders to meet data requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install configure and maintain database management systems (DBMS) for optimal performance security and availability.
- Perform database backups restores and disaster recovery planning to ensure data integrity and minimize downtime.
- Monitor and troubleshoot database performance addressing issues related to queries storage and system resources.
- Design implement and manage database schemas tables indexes and views for efficient data storage and retrieval.
- Analyze and optimize SQL queries and overall database performance.
- Implement and enforce database security policies including access controls encryption and data masking.
- Monitor database activity to ensure compliance with security standards and regulations (e.g. GDPR HIPAA).
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to ensure smooth database operations and integration with other systems.
- Investigate and resolve databaserelated incidents and performance issues promptly.
Qualifications:
MustHave Skills:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Database Administrator.
- Extensive handson experience with PostgreSQL.
- Strong understanding of database design normalization and optimization techniques.
- Proven expertise in high availability disaster recovery and database replication.
- Proficiency in SQL or other database query languages.
- Experience with performance monitoring tools and database profiling.
- Excellent problemsolving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration.
NicetoHave Skills:
- Handson experience with other relational database systems such as SQL Server Oracle or MySQL.
- Knowledge of compliance standards like GDPR or HIPAA.
- Familiarity with data encryption and masking techniques.
- Experience mentoring junior DBAs or leading database projects.
- Ability to work in a fastpaced dynamic environment and meet deadlines.
