Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervision and Oversight:

    • Supervise up to five (5) inmates during maintenance activities ensuring compliance with correctional facility protocols and safety standards.

    • Act as a role model and enforce discipline while promoting teamwork and responsibility among the inmate team.

  • Advanced Maintenance Tasks:

    • Perform and oversee advanced maintenance operations including troubleshooting and repairing equipment machinery and infrastructure.

    • Provide technical expertise to the inmate team and assist in skill development under supervision.

  • Safety and Compliance:

    • Monitor and enforce adherence to safety protocols including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

    • Ensure all maintenance activities align with correctional policies and legal standards.
       

  • Operational Management:

    • Plan delegate and oversee daily maintenance operations to meet facility goals and deadlines.

    • Drive and operate commercial vehicles with air brakes as required for maintenance tasks.

    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities equipment usage and inmate performance.

  • Communication and Coordination:

    • Communicate effectively with inmates staff and management through approved channels.

    • Serve as the primary point of contact during maintenance operations and represent the department professionally.

  • Professionalism and Representation:

    • Wear a uniform identifying your supervisory role and adhere to correctional standards at all times.


Qualifications :

Certification and Experience:

  • Mandatory:

    • Certified as a statecertified correction officer.

    • Advanced Level Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) certification.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a correction officer.

    • At least one (1) year of experience operating a commercial vehicle.

Licensing:

  • Valid Class B Drivers License with air brake endorsement.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting prolonged standing and working in various environmental conditions.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills to manage teams effectively in a correctional setting.

  • Advanced knowledge of maintenance practices tools and machinery.

  • High level of organization and timemanagement skills to prioritize and oversee multiple tasks.

  • Excellent communication skills to interact with inmates staff and management.

  • Professionalism and strict adherence to safety and correctional facility standards.
