Job Description
Job Title: Oracle Administrator
Location: Mumbai
Experience Range: 2 5 yrs
Mode of Work: Onsite Support / Shifts
Required Qualification
- Academic
- B.E. / M.E.
- B. Tech / M Tech
- M.C.A. / M. Sc
Required Skill Set
- Oracle Administrator (Sound knowledge of RDBMS)
- PostgreSQL experience is must
Relevant Industry: ITES
Job Description / Responsibilities
- Install and configure new Oracle Servers
- Configure Oracle Server monitoring utilities
- Ensure all database servers are backed up in a way that meets the business Recovery Point Objectives (RPO)
- Test backups to ensure we can meet the business Recovery Time Objectives (RTO)
- Troubleshoot Oracle Server service outages as they occur including afterhours and weekends
- Install and configure clustering log shipping mirroring replication etc
- Deploy database change scripts provided by third party vendors
- When performance issues arise determine the most effective way to increase performance including hardware purchases server configuration changes or index/query changes
- Document the companys database environment
- Tuning TSQL queries to improve performance
- Design indexes for existing applications choosing when to add or remove indexes
- Using Profiler traces and other tools to find the most frequently run queries When users complain about the performance of a particular query help developers improve the performance of that query by tweaking it or modifying indexes
- Find out list of the top 10 most resourceintensive queries on the server and suggest ways to improve performance on each
- To migrate and upgrade database
- Sound knowledge of Oracle licensing policy
- Sound knowledge of RAC architecture and ASM.
- Overall capacity planning and drive performance benchmarking exercises.
- Handle escalations for high impacting P1 incidents.
- Plan patch management and ensure up to date inventory.
- Advise developers on the most efficient database designs (tables datatypes stored procedures functions etc.)
Desired profile of the candidate:
- Knowledge about hardware and associated peripherals.
- Understanding about Network and Internet Connectivity.
- Understanding of Information Security.
- Good Communication Skills
- Should have worked in Production Support/ Monitoring function.
- Knowledge of testing methodologies.
- Understanding about software life cycle.
- Understanding about project life cycle
