Job Description

Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Ubuntu Linux L3/L4 Engineer to join our team in a dynamic
regulated healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will possess advanced proficiency in
Python programming extensive experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks
and a comprehensive understanding of Linuxbased infrastructure. Preferably the candidate will
have experience in product ownership and a proven track record of operating within a GxP
regulated healthcare medical devices or pharmaceutical industry.
This role is based in Santa Clara CA with flexibility to work remotely some of the time but not
exclusively. As part of a global team the position requires flexibility to start the workday as
early as 5:00 AM Pacific Time to accommodate international collaboration across multiple time
zones.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide L3/L4level expertise for Ubuntu Linux systems including advanced troubleshooting optimization and configuration.
  • Manage Ubuntu endpoints integrated into a Windows Active Directory (AD) domain leveraging AD users and groups for authentication and access control.
  • Ensure systems meet enterprise standards for performance reliability and security in global environments.
  • Design develop and implement automation solutions using advanced Python programming skills.
  • Build and maintain custom scripts tools and frameworks to reduce manual effort and increase operational efficiency.
  • Operate within an ITILcompliant ITSM framework managing incidents problems changes and configurations.
  • Use ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow to document track and resolve service requests and issues.
  • Define and implement Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure and improve service delivery.
  • Leverage Canonical Landscape to manage monitor and automate configuration and patch management for Ubuntu endpoints.
  • Ensure endpoint compliance with organizational security and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure that all activities adhere to Good Automated Manufacturing Practices (GAMP 5) GxP guidelines and other regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in and support audit readiness system qualification (IQ OQ PQ) and validation activities.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to define the product roadmap for Ubuntu Linux services.
  • Gather requirements from stakeholders and deliver tailored solutions that align with business and regulatory needs.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Work Instructions (WIs) and system configurations.
  • Provide mentorship and training to junior engineers and contractors to foster knowledge sharing and skill development.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems or a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Linux engineering with a primary focus on Ubuntu Linux.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Python development for automation and tooling.
  • Proven experience in regulated industries with direct exposure to healthcare pharmaceuticals or life sciences (GxP preferred).
  • Advanced proficiency in Ubuntu Linux system administration including kernel tuning package management and network configuration.
  • Strong experience managing Ubuntu endpoints within Windows Active Directory environments including integration and authentication via AD users and groups.
  • Handson expertise with ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow or equivalent tools.
  • Experience with Canonical Landscape for centralized management of Linux endpoints.
  • Handson experience supporting validation activities including Installation Qualification (IQ) Operational Qualification (OQ) and Performance Qualification (PQ).
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in product ownership including stakeholder management and roadmap planning.
  • Familiarity with DevOps pipelines CI/CD practices and tools like Jenkins or GitLab.
  • Knowledge of security frameworks such as CIS benchmarks NIST 80053 and Linux system hardening best practices.
