Job Description
The Civil Engineering Department of AECOMs Transportation Business Line is actively seeking an EntryLevel Civil/Highway Engineer to be based in our Newark DE office. Under the supervision of a Project Engineer the appropriately qualified applicant will be part of a design team responsible for designing small to largescale highway projects such as roadway rehabilitation/safety improvement projects intersection improvements/optimizations interstate/limited access highway widening/reconstruction. Design responsibilities include horizontal/vertical geometry pavement design 3D modeling intersections/interchanges design traffic control/staging signing and pavement markings design ADA Pedestrian and Bicycle design etc. Current notable projects include Airport Road Extension in Rehoboth Beach DE; SR1 and Cave Neck Road Grade Separated Interchange in Milton DE; and SR8 and Chestnut GroveNault Road Intersection Improvements in Dover DE.
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Obtaining and reviewing existing information including some field work/site investigations.
- Originating technical calculations that advance the design of the project.
- Assisting in the development of roadway construction intersection grading traffic control and signing and pavement marking.
- Developing 3D models using civil engineering software such as Bentley OpenRoads Designer or Autodesk Civil 3D.
- Assisting in the preparation of technical reports and project specifications
- Performs work under supervision in accordance with agreedupon budget and schedule.
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Very Familiar with Microsoft Office programs (Word Excel PowerPoint).
- Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam or ability to take in the next 6 months.
- Some experience with AutoCAD MicroStation and other civil engineeringrelated software (Civil 3D OpenRoads).
- Previous work experience or internship with engineering firms contractors or DOTs involved in highway design construction management or other transportationrelated projects.

- This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes inoffice work in Newark DE. The selected candidate must be available to work in Newark DE on a scheduled basis.
