Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a creative highly talented UXO Safety Officer (UXOSO) for employment on Guam.
In accordance with Department of Defense Explosives Safety Board Technical Paper 18 (DDESB TP18) a UXOSO must be able to:
Meet the criteria for and perform the functions of a UXOTIII. Implement explosives and health and safety plans and programs in accordance with applicable DoD federal State and local requirements. Ensure compliance with a DoD Military Service and/or DDESBapproved site plans. Analyze the potential risks (e.g. operational explosives safety general safety) associated with MECrelated activities and develop and implement required mitigating measures. Verify compliance with sitespecific explosives safety requirements including:
Enforcing personnel limits and explosives safety quantity distance (ESQD) arcs for explosiverelated operations.
Conducting documenting and reporting the daily results of safety inspections and verifying implementation of corrective actions.
Engineering controls if used to reduce the open detonation minimum separation distance
Heavy equipment operations are conducted in accordance with manufacturers specificationsMake the final safety status determination of discovered MEC with the SUXOS.
Qualifications :
- High school diploma 4 years of experience and or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Current drivers license. The position requires using an AECOM provided vehicle and/or personal vehicle for AECOM company business.
- Pass preemployment drug screen.
- Participate in and successfully complete a postoffer preemployment fitness for duty exam in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.120. This position is contingent upon passing a Fit for Duty exam by receiving a medically qualified fit for duty result letter indicating the employee is medically qualified to conduct work activities at the jobsite.
- 40hour HAZWOPER
- 8hour OSHA Supervisor (initial)
- 10hour or 30hour OSHA Construction Safety
- Current 8hour OSHA refresher
In accordance with the Department of Defense Explosives Safety Board Technical Paper 18 (DDESB TP18) a UXOSO shall meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Graduate of a military EOD assistant course; or an accredited UXO technician training course; or military EOD school of the US Canada Great Britain Germany or Australia.
- Onthejob training including but not limited to familiarity with the process procedures and equipment (e.g. geophysical) used for conducting MECrelated activities.
- Military EOD school graduates: 1 year minimum MECrelated experience 1/2 year minimum MECSupervisory experience 8 years total EOD and MEC experience.
- Accredited UXO School graduates: 8 years minimum MECrelated experience. 2 years minimum MECSupervisory experience. 10 years minimum total MEC experience.
- Graduate of an OSHAcompliant (Section 1910.120(e)(4) of Title 29 CFR) 8hour Management and Supervisor Training Course.
- Possesses an understanding of applicable explosives safety criteria and experience in the various phases of a munitions response to MEC or the performance of range clearance activities as appropriate for the operations to be performed.
- Must have completed a 10hour OSHA Construction Safety and Health Training and earned a Department of Labor Construction Safety Course Completion Card.

- Explosive Ordnance Disposal certificate
- 30hour OSHA Construction Safety
- 40hour EM 38511 Hazard Recognition Training
- Prior munitions responserelated work experience on Guam
