Job Description
Chief Executive Officer in Wales Leisure Sector
Circa 90k plus benefits
My client is a fantastic leisure business that has been operating for over 20 years. The organisation has charitable status and operates on a notforprofit basis by reinvesting its surpluses back into the service and/or facilities it operates all for the benefit of the local communities it serves. They work with the local council and run a total of 6 sites (Wet and dry leisure centres and a cultural venue) employing over 300 staff. This is an incredible opportunity to lead this fantastic business as CEO.
The role
In this role you will have overall responsibility of the running of the business leading a team of senior management and defining and executing the business strategy. You will also be the main point of contact with the board members and senior officers at the council.
Other key responsibilities include
- Overall responsibility of the running and operations of the business
- Working very closely with the board and providing them all information they need including writing and online reports and updating them on the progress of the business from a financial/target perspective
- Continual review of business/company structures and business and financial plans.
- Advising and implementing all decisions made by the Management Board
- Overseeing and supporting as necessary the work of three Heads of Service
What are we looking for
We are looking to speak to senior leader in the fitness and leisure industry who have specific experience of working in the public sector. Exposure of dealing with local councils is key in this role and you must have experience of running a business.
To be considered for this role you will have the following:
- You must be in a similar senior management position as Managing Director/ CEO or equivalent in a crossfunctional business
- You must be coming from a background within leisure/ the public sector
- Demonstrable experience in strategic planning financial management and operational excellence
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire influence and guide teams towards achieving ambitious goals
- You must be based in Wales or willing to travel 23 times per week/ available to relocate
