- Steel fixers study construction drawings and blueprints to understand the specific requirements for reinforcing concrete.
- They determine the type size and arrangement of steel bars or mesh needed for each project.
- Steel fixers prepare cut and bend steel reinforcement bars according to the specifications.
- They may use tools such as cutting torches bending machines or manual hand tools.
- They position the steel bars in the correct position within the concrete molds (formwork) to ensure the final structures strength.
- This may involve tying bars together with wire to maintain their correct alignment and spacing.
- Steel fixers secure the steel bars with binding wire or welding to ensure the rebar stays in place during the pouring of concrete.
- This task is crucial for maintaining the precise position of the bars in the formwork.
- For large projects steel fixers may assemble reinforcement cages that will be placed within concrete elements like columns beams or slabs.
