Job Description

TPF Recruitment. The SouthEasts leading accountancy practice recruitment agency is supporting a successful firm of accountants based in Portsmouth who are looking for a PartTime Payroll Manager to join their team 3 or 4 days a week. The practice provides a holistic accounting service to their clients across accounts tax payroll bookkeeping CIS and VAT and services clients of all sizes across a range of sectors including manufacturing professional services marketing sales healthcare startups ect.


This is a pivotal Part Time Payroll Manager position where you will report into the Partners and look after your own portfolio of 180 payrolls ranging from Director only to small ltd companies.

There is also scope to get involved in other areas of the practice too should you wish such as bookkeeping vat etc. This practice promotes a fantastic work life balance and hybrid working 2 days a week from home.

  • Manage multiple payrolls for a diverse client portfolio.
  • Support the team with processes relevant to payroll including starters and leavers.
  • Ensure accurate information is obtained from clients to validate payroll data.
  • Assist with maintaining pension records including processing payroll payments and statutory reductions.
  • Complete yearend processes and submissions.
  • Managing queries related to tax benefits salary allowances.
  • Act as a mentor to junior members of the team.
  • Support the Partners with networking and business development opportunities.


Requirements

PartTime Payroll Manager
  • The ideal candidate for the positions will have either bureau or accountancy practice payroll experience.
  • Be CIPP qualified part qualified or qualified by experience.
  • Have experience in dealing with a mix of weekly and monthly payrolls.
  • Be hardworking and up for a challenge in a fastpaced working environment.
  • Have good software and technical payroll knowledge.

Extensive experience in end-to-end payroll processing, including statutory calculations, RTI, and year-end procedures. Experience in managing multiple or complex payrolls. Excellent communication skills for client and statutory authority liaison. Proactive with attention to detail, capable of creating and driving processes forward. Strong team player with the ability to collaborate effectively. Relevant payroll qualifications (e.g., CIPP) preferred, but not essential; hands-on experience is valued. Familiarity with payroll software is advantageous; training will be provided.
