Job Description
You will be responsible for the following:
Software configuration
- Assists in designing verifying documenting amending and refactoring moderately complex software configurations for deployment.
- Applies agreed standards and tools to achieve a wellengineered result.
- Collaborates in reviews of work with others as appropriate.
System software
- Monitors operational systems for resource usage and failure rates to inform and facilitate system software tuning.
- Applies system software parameters to maximise throughput and efficiency.
- Installs and tests new versions of system software.
- Contributes to preparation of software implementation procedures with fall back contingency plans.
Network support
- Carries out agreed network maintenance tasks and specified operational configuration of network components.
- Establish and diagnose network problems/faults using the required troubleshooting methodology and tools.
- Uses network management software and tools to collect agreed performance and traffic statistics.
Systems installation and removal
- Installs or removes hardware and/or software using supplied installation instructions and tools including handover to the client.
- Uses standard procedures and diagnostic tools to test installations correct problems and document results.
- Records details of all components that have been installed and removed.
- Assists users and follows agreed procedures for further help or escalation.
- Contributes to the development of installation procedures and standards.
Release and deployment
- Uses approved tools and techniques for specific deployment activities.
- Administers the recording of activities logging of results and documents technical activities undertaken.
- Deputize for higher grade staff if required.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- At least 3 years practical experience of implementation and maintenance of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) end systems within a large organization.
- Good understanding of ICT systems and the ability to work independently to solve problems.
- Good experience configuring hardware and software.
- Handson experience troubleshooting technical issues and providing technical support to endusers.
- Experience in System Administration of both Windows and Linux Server Operating Systems.
- Broad and sound technical knowledge and experience in distributed Information Systems as they are applied to modern Command and Control Information Systems (C2IS). Experience with MS SQL DB other database packages database queries and scripting.
- Experience with and a good working knowledge of Relational Databases management including backups archiving and replication.
Desirable Experience and Education:
- Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint Portal administration and troubleshooting.
- System and Webbased application troubleshooting and fault analysis.
- Knowledge of applications used to support service delivery such as system monitoring event management and performance analysis.
- ITIL Foundation Certificate.
- Experience in Service Operation in an Enterprise Service Delivery environment including practical use of service management tools (e.g. ITSM).
- Prior experience working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements.
- Knowledge of NATO responsibilities and organisation including ACO and ACT.
Education and Clearance
- NATO Secret Clearance
- Higher vocational training in a relevant discipline with 3 years postrelated experience. Or a secondary educational qualification with 5 years postrelated experience.
Required Qualifications: At least 2 years experience in various areas of: Latest Virtualization Technologies and Operating Systems Implementation and troubleshooting Infrastructure Failover Clusters (VMware and Microsoft) Latest Server, Storage, Client and Infrastructure Networking hardware technologies o Antivirus Management Systems (i.e. McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator) Enterprise Systems Management services, methods and tools (i.e. SCOM, SCCM, SCVMM) Experience in various areas of Software Engineering including some of the following Email and collaboration services technologies (e.g. MS Exchange and Skype for Business) Cloud Computing Systems such as Microsoft Remote Desktop Infrastructure and VMware Horizon Design and implementation of Active Directory Federation Services in large enterprise environments WEP Portal Technologies and High Availability Database Systems (i.e. SQL Cluster) At least 1 year experience support by professional certification in the implementation and administration of COTS products such as MS Windows Server, Linux, Oracle, MS SQL, VMware, MS Hyper-V, MS SharePoint, MS Active Directory and Active Directory Federation Services, MS Exchange, MS Skype for Business, Client OS (Windows, Linux.) Configuration management practices and tools o Knowledge of ITIL IT service management model Experience and applied knowledge of Service Transition Proven ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with good briefing skills o Strong and open communication skills o Entrepreneur and strong networking skills Knowledge of NATO responsibilities and organization. Education and Clearance NATO Cosmic Top Secret Clearance
