Key Job Responsibilities:
- Communicate with the customer and determine the nature of the problem(s) with the fire alarm system.
- Independently perform quality work and recommend improvements to ensure that customer satisfaction is met.
- Test and commission fire alarm systems to ensure that building occupancy can be taken.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant codes regulations and safety standards
- Complete various reports and documents related to the work performed.
- Complete inspections of fire alarm systems as per Can/ULC S536.
- Be able to read and understand engineered drawings/specs and programs
- Complete verifications of fire alarm systems as per Can/ULC S537.
- Complete fire extinguisher inspections as per NFPA10.
- Complete emergency lightning inspections as per the local authority having jurisdiction.
- Be able to work overtime when required
- Be able to participate in the oncall rotation being evenings and weekends
- Other job duties as assigned by the Fire Service Supervisor.
Qualifications :
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the electronics field or a related discipline including at least 23 years of experience servicing fire alarm systems
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- A valid Canadian drivers license with a clean record
- ASTTBC certification in British Columbia or equivalent is required.
- EST 3 or EST 4 certification is preferred.
- Previous experience maintaining electrical systems would be an asset.
- Previous experience maintaining Edwards or equivalent fire alarm equipment would be considered an asset.
- Previous experience programing and troubleshooting Edwards or equivalent fire alarm equipment would be considered an asset.
