The Bridge CAD Technicians mission is to work within a multidiscipline team to support the Bridge Engineering Group as a CAD Operator and Detailer on projects that involve the design and construction of bridges culverts retaining walls and other transportation structures using the latest versions of CAD and civil design software. The CAD technician will prepare drawings and undertake quantity calculations and takeoff estimates.
Responsibilities
- Create digital drawings related to the planning design and construction of bridges culverts retaining walls and other transportation structures in compliance with CAD design standards and guidelines including client specification manuals
- Interpret design sketches implement redline markups and assist in the collection and interpretation of construction record and/or asbuilt drawings
- Collaborate with and provide support to Structural (Bridge and Infrastructure) Engineers
- Coordination with transportation municipal traffic management and other disciplines in the planning preliminary engineering detailed design construction and postconstruction phases
- Perform takeoffs and calculate quantities
- Provide support for preparation of proposals
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
- Diploma in Civil Engineering / Architectural Science from an accredited College
- Member of OACETT Certified Engineering Technician or Certified Technologist in good standing (an asset)
- Minimum 35 years of experience in Bridges or Structural CAD work
- Experience in AutoCAD
- Knowledge of Civil 3D Revit or SketchUp
- Knowledge of MS Office 365 and SharePoint environments
- Experience working in a multidiscipline team environment
- Highly organized and the able to manage various projects simultaneously
