The Behavioral Health Specialist is responsible for managing individuals with medical and behavioral health problems within the primary care setting. In addition this position may also require the development and implementation of wellness programs to support island residents and students.
Qualifications :
- Current and unrestricted license (LPC LMFT LMHC LISW LCSW or similar) or authorizing document from any US State District of Columbia or US Territory to provide healthcare within scope of practice
- Must hold a Masters degree in Psychology Counselling or Social Work. Must hold a valid state license as a LPC LMFT LMHC LISW LCSW or similar behavioral health license.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Common Access Card (CAC) or ability to obtain one.
- Must be able to read write and speak English to effectively communicate.
- US DOS clearance or the ability to obtain one is required.
- Must be able to relocate to Iraq.
- A valid passport is required and must be in your possession prior to relocation. You must maintain a current passport during your stay in Iraq.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Minimum of five (3) years of experience in short term solution focused counselling with individuals children families and couples.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with psychotherapy groups is preferred.
- Experience with Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel PowerPoint Word Outlook).
Experience Required:
- Experience on a military site working as a government subcontractor or prime contractor is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide social services behavioral health and addiction medicine services.
- Work directly with primary health care providers in identifying and treating mental disorders and psychosocial difficulties including the detection of atrisk patients and further harm prevention.
- Provide consultative services to patients referred by primary care providers and provide clinical status.
- Determines patient care plans along with the primary care team.
- Maintains accurate patient records including the proper tracking of treatment plans.
- Educates the primary care team on mood disorders (such as depression and anxiety) and providing tools and techniques to manage these disorders including anger management and marital and family issues.
- Teaches patients families and staff about prevention methods and treatment options.
- Provides recommendations for coping strategies that assist members of the workforce in reducing the stress of OCONUS life.
- Monitors the sites behavioral health program identifying problems related to patient services and making recommendations for improvement.
- Utilizes various computer software to log patient information and access emails and calendars.
- Active participation in daytoday office activities including a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve procedural processes obtain approvals and remain abreast of new developments and policy requirements. Active participation in Mass Casualty exercises and events.
- Actively participates in Mass Casualty exercises and events.
- Performance of other duties as assigned.

Compensation Min: $49hr Max: $81hr
Compensation Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicants background experience skills internal equity and alignment with geographical market data.
