About Us:
Max Rieke & Brothers Inc. is a wellrespected construction company based in Shawnee Kansas with a long history of delivering quality projects through teamwork integrity and expertise. We are seeking a skilled and detailoriented Accounting Manager to join our team and oversee our financial operations ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
Position Overview:
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of accounting within the company. This role requires indepth knowledge of construction contract accounting and proficiency in handling industryspecific financial tasks (change orders AIA billings Time & material billings Lien Waivers etc.). Familiarity with the Foundation accounting software is highly preferred as it is a key tool in our daily operations. The Accounting manager will work alongside and collaborate with the companys outside CPA firm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the accounting departments daily operations including accounts payable accounts receivable payroll and general ledger.
- Prepare analyze and report financial statements in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Manage job cost accounting processes including contract billing revenue recognition and tracking project costs.
- Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of contracts change orders and related revenue.
- Assist in budgeting forecasting and cash flow management.
- Assist in developing best practices and providing input on streamlining business processes.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards.
- Collaborate with project managers and executive teams to provide financial insights and support for strategic planning.
- Provide leadership training and development to accounting staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience with at least 3 years in construction contract accounting.
- Strong knowledge of construction industry standards financial reporting and compliance.
- Proficiency in Foundation construction accounting software is highly desired.
- Excellent organizational analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
