Therapeutic Preschool Teacher
Allied Behavioral Health Solutions (ABHS) is a locally owned behavioral health practice with a staff of dedicated passionate and collaborative clinicians working towards ABHS goal of better outcomes for all. Since 2017 ABHS has been committed to providing high quality and accessible mental health services across Middle and East Tennessee. In September 2024 ABHS will open the Resilient Roots Family Wellness Center (RRFWC) in Nashville a community space that will include clinical outpatient psychotherapy across the lifespan intensive outpatient programming for perinatal mental health and children aged 812 and associated behavioral health services a community hub and a therapeutic preschool with inclusion classes for children 6 weeks 5 years of age (preK). The ideal candidates for roles within RRWC will be passionate about supporting parents infants children and families in meeting their mental health and educational goals.
Primary Responsibilities
Develop and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans that promote active learning exploration and creativity.
Integrate a variety of teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs and interests of preschoolers.
Create a stimulating classroom environment that encourages curiosity independence and positive social interactions.
Use observation documentation and assessment tools to track childrens development and learning progress.
Individualize instruction and support based on each childs strengths interests and areas for growth.
Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers providing updates on their childs development and achievements.
Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom community where children feel safe valued and respected.
Teach and model positive social skills conflict resolution strategies and emotional regulation techniques.
Provide emotional support and encouragement to children as they navigate new experiences and challenges.
Establish and maintain open collaborative partnerships with parents and families serving as a trusted resource and advocate.
Communicate effectively with parents through newsletters conferences and informal conversations.
Encourage family involvement in classroom activities events and volunteer opportunities.
Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices and stay informed about best practices in early childhood education.
Collaborate with colleagues administrators and support staff to create a cohesive and supportive learning community.
Contribute to the overall success and growth of the preschool through active participation in staff meetings committees and special projects.
Collaborate with Education Assistants to ensure the above responsibilities are met.
Physical Demands: This position will require light to medium work involving standing or walking most of the time with some lifting in excess of 20lbs. Position will also frequently reach above the shoulders climbing stairs and spending time outdoors in various conditions of heat/cold lighting conditions and noise levels. This position may also require assisting young children with activities of daily living including but not limited to daily typical hygiene tasks.
Reports to: RRWC Educational Director
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education Child Development or a related field.
Previous experience working with young children in a preschool or early childhood education setting.
Knowledge of child development principles early learning standards and best practices in early childhood education.
Strong communication interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Patience creativity flexibility and a genuine love for working with young children.
CPR and First Aid certification (preferred).
Ability to meet state licensing requirements for preschool teachers.
