Reports To: GMMaintenance & Engineering
Key Responsibilities:
- Creating and planning monthly health and safety activities to increase employee s awareness and knowledge of workplace health and safety.
- Being the first point of contact for employee s health and safety related issues and responding to their issues in a professional manner.
- Conducting health and safety related inspections and incident investigations.
- Drafting proposals to resolve health and safety related issues.
- Managing completing and submitting WorkSafeBC related documentation.
- Communicating and coordinating with external parties for health and safety related issues.
- Building coordinating and managing employee s gradual return to work plans.
- Developing and delivering employee training related to health and safety.
- Documenting all health and safety activities/ issues and managing all health and safety related documentation/ records.
- Conducting and facilitating Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings and directing Joint Health and Safety Committee activities.
- Reviewing and ensuring chemical data sheets are compliant and up to date.
- Conducting daily workplace inspection to ensure the workplace s health and safety is compliant with all health and safety regulations.
- Reviewing and checking health and safety equipment inventory to ensure adequate equipment is available and fully functional.
- Conducting fire and/or ammonia emergency drills.
- Conducting hazard assessments and reviewing safe work procedures on a regular basis
- Developing and managing the Continuous Health and Safety Improvement Plan.
Requirements
- Occupational Health and Safety Diploma from a recognized educational institution.
- Certified Heath and Safety Consultant or Canada Registered Safety Professional Certification or working towards either designation will be an asset.
- 2 to 3 years of experience in a Health and Safety related position or the combination of education and experience.
- Professional working level proficiency in the English Language.
- Advance level in attention to detail.
- Advance level in communication and interpersonal skills.
- Advance level in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel PowerPoint Word).
- Advance level in organization skills.
- Medium level in investigation skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
Occupational Health and Safety Diploma from a recognized educational institution Certified Heath and Safety Consultant or Canada Registered Safety Professional Certification or working towards either designation will be an asset 2 to 3 years of experience in a Health and Safety related position or the combination of education and experience Professional working level proficiency in the English Language Advance level in attention to detail Advance level in communication and interpersonal skills Advance level in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) Advance level in organization skills Medium level in investigation skills Ability to meet deadlines.
