Job Description

Restaurant Manager Q at Fairmont Empress

This position will oversee the operation of the hotels newest restaurant and bar.  The hotel completed an extensive renovation in 2017 which included the relaunch of an 80seat restaurant with a 70seat bar and 60seat patio. Your leadership ability infused with your passion for all things F&B will lead you to provide the highest quality service bringing the overall concept to life and placing our new restaurants and lounges on the map as the Hottest Places in Town.

What you will be doing:

  • Work closely with the Director of Restaurants at Fairmont Empress to execute the smooth and flawless operation of both the Front and Heart of House (inclusive of restaurant and kitchen)
  • Ensure optimal performance by being a presence on the floor to support and lead the team to deliver service excellence
  • Drive revenue and profit through the development and implementation of strategies practices and promotions while in keeping with the overall concept
  • Handle guest concerns and react quickly and professionally
  • Assist in the recruitment and training of F&B Colleagues
  • Balance operational administrative and Colleague needs
  • Conduct regularly scheduled departmental meetings
  • Maximize revenues by communicating regularly with the Food and Beverage teams to implement agreed upon strategies practices and promotions
  • Have full knowledge of all Outlet menus
  • Manage the departmental budget
  • Follow outlet policies procedures and service standards
  • Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications :

Your experience and skills include:

  • Three years of previous Food and Beverage leadership experience required
  • Previous Point of Sale System experience required
  • Exceptional knowledge of wine & spirits required
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Window applications required
  • University/College degree in a related discipline preferred
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs remaining calm and courteous at all times

    Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to): Constant standing and walking Frequent bending and kneeling Ocassional carrying and lifting

    Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
