Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented HR Intern to join our team! In this role you will get to complete administrative support assignments designed to develop a working knowledge of policies, practices, and procedures related to field of study. This is a developmental position for college interns who are pursuing a non-technical field of study.

What You'll Be Doing

Researches and gathers statistics and related data for periodic and/or special one-time reports.
Reviews, verifies, and formats this information into reports for use within and outside the unit. Such reports may be in spreadsheet or graphical formats, or narrative-style word documents.
Prepares accompanying correspondence and distributes reports as directed.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
1. Recruitment Support
Job Postings: Assist in posting job advertisements on job boards, company websites, and social media platforms.
Resume Screening: Help review and screen resumes to identify candidates who meet the job qualifications.
Scheduling Interviews: Coordinate interview schedules for candidates and communicate with both interviewees and interviewers.
Candidate Communication: Assist with sending out interview invitations, offer letters, rejection letters, and other candidate communications.
2. Onboarding and Offboarding
New Hire Documentation: Assist in preparing onboarding materials, employee handbooks, and orientation documents for new hires.
Employee Orientation: Support the onboarding process by helping set up orientation sessions for new employees, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed.
Exit Interviews: Help coordinate offboarding processes for employees who are leaving the organization, including exit interviews and collecting company property.
3. Employee Records and Documentation
Maintaining Files: Organize and update employee files and records, ensuring that they are accurate, complete, and comply with privacy regulations.
Data Entry: Input and update employee data into HR software or databases, including personal information, job history, and benefits enrollment.
Document Preparation: Assist in preparing and proofreading HR-related documents, such as employment contracts, offer letters, and policy updates.


Desired candidate profile

  • Microsoft Office Suite: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for document creation, data entry, and reporting.
  • HR Software: Familiarity with HR software or tools (e.g., applicant tracking systems, payroll systems) is an advantage but not always required.
  • Data Entry: Attention to detail and accuracy when inputting data into HR systems or maintaining employee records.

3. Communication Skills

  • Verbal and Written Communication: Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with employees, managers, and candidates.
  • Professionalism: Ability to communicate in a professional and courteous manner with colleagues, management, and external candidates.

4. Organizational Skills

  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy and attention to detail in tasks like scheduling, data entry, and document preparation.
  • Multitasking: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

5. Interpersonal Skills

  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to HR-related projects and initiatives.
  • Customer Service: Strong service-oriented mindset, as the intern may interact with employees, candidates, and external vendors.
