Job Description

Job Description: Commis 1 Continental Cuisine

Position Overview: We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Commis 1 to join our culinary team specializing in Continental cuisine. As a Commis 1 you will work under the supervision of the Chef de Partie and assist in the preparation and cooking of highquality Continental dishes. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop your culinary skills while ensuring that the kitchen operates efficiently maintains food safety standards and delivers exceptional dishes to our guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Food Preparation and Cooking:

    • Assist in the preparation and cooking of Continental dishes as per menu requirements.
    • Follow recipes and instructions to ensure the consistency and quality of food.
    • Prepare ingredients sauces garnishes and accompaniments required for Continental dishes.
    • Ensure all dishes are cooked and presented according to the restaurants standards.
  2. Maintaining Kitchen Hygiene and Organization:

    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of your designated work area.
    • Follow proper food safety and sanitation standards to ensure the kitchen remains compliant with health regulations.
    • Properly store food items and ensure that all ingredients are fresh and correctly labeled.
  3. Assisting with Stock and Inventory:

    • Assist in monitoring stock levels ensuring that all ingredients are properly stocked and replenished.
    • Report any shortages or discrepancies in inventory to the Chef de Partie or Sous Chef.
    • Help with stock rotation to minimize waste and ensure the use of ingredients before their expiration dates.
  4. Supporting the Culinary Team:

    • Work closely with other team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations and timely food delivery.
    • Take direction from the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef to ensure proper execution of the menu.
    • Provide assistance to junior kitchen staff and trainees if applicable.
  5. Quality Control:

    • Ensure all food prepared meets the restaurants high standards for taste texture and presentation.
    • Monitor the quality of ingredients and cooked dishes ensuring consistency in every service.
  6. Learning and Development:

    • Actively participate in learning opportunities to improve culinary skills and knowledge especially regarding Continental cuisine.
    • Show initiative in learning new techniques recipes and cooking methods under the guidance of senior kitchen staff.
  7. Compliance and Safety:

    • Adhere to all safety and hygiene regulations to prevent accidents and ensure the safe handling of food.
    • Be mindful of allergens and dietary restrictions ensuring that special requests are handled with care.
