This role focuses on the unique requirements of aerospace applications where highperformance reliability and precision are essential. Candidates selected will work on different valves such as injection valves throttle valves etc. used in various engines ensuring they meet the demanding conditions of extreme temperatures pressures and operational environments.
Key Responsibilities
Valve Design and Development:
o Design valves for rocket engine applications including thrust vector control and purge valves.
o Develop 3D models technical drawings and detailed specifications for valve components and assemblies using CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks or Creo).
o Perform design analysis to ensure valve reliability under conditions such as highflow rates cryogenic temperatures and rapid cycling. Materials and Performance Evaluation:
o Select appropriate materials for valve components that can handle high thermal loads pressure differentials and aggressive propellant chemicals including cryogenic fluids and hypergolic propellants.
o Work with materials engineers to test and evaluate valve materials under harsh conditions ensuring longevity and performance during rocket engine operation.
Prototyping and Testing:
o Design and implement testing procedures for validating valve functionality and performance including leakage tests actuation tests and flow tests.
o Analyze test data to identify areas for improvement optimize valve designs and troubleshoot issues such as leakage erosion or failure.
o Collaborate with propulsion engineers to ensure valves integrate seamlessly with rocket engine components and subsystems such as turbomachinery and injectors.
o Work closely with systems engineers to understand the interface and interaction between valves ensuring proper functionality within rocket engine architecture.
Preferences
Familiarity with valve systems used in propulsion systems including experience with cryogenic highpressure or hightemperature applications.
Experience in designing valves for highperformance critical systems is a significant advantage.
Technical Skills:
o Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks CATIA Creo) for designing complex mechanical systems.
o Knowledge of fluid dynamics thermodynamics and materials science as they relate to valve performance in rocket engines.
o Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools for design validation and optimization.
o Understanding of aerospace industry standards (e.g. MILSTD AS9100) and regulatory compliance (e.g. FAA NASA).
Soft Skills:
o Excellent problemsolving and analytical abilities with the capacity to think critically in highpressure environments.
o Strong communication skills both written and verbal for documentation reporting and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
o Detailoriented and highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fastpaced highstakes environment.
o Strong teamwork and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with engineers scientists and technicians from various disciplines.
This Valve Design Engineer role is specific to the rocket propulsion industry focusing on highperformance valves that operate under extreme conditions. The responsibilities and qualifications have been tailored to meet the unique challenges faced by engineers working in the aerospace sector.
