Job Description

Job Summary:

BlueOptima has a truly unique collection of vast datasets relating to the changes that software developers make in source code when working in an enterprise software development environment.

As a Senior Machine Learning Data Engineer you will take problems and ideas from our clients and customer support teams analyze what would be involved whether the solution will solve the underlying problem and plan and develop solutions with a small team. Ensuring the team is able to deliver the solutions you have planned in the required time. You should be able to provide your own ideas or problems that we are wellpositioned to tackle. As with many problems within the Data Engineering space defining effective pipelines to gather curate and manage the data is as important as selecting the best approach using ML techniques.

You will take responsibility for managing the endtoend process this means that you will own and plan the initial exploration of the data the development of a solution design the requirements for ongoing monitoring of the solution once it is released and tackle any issues that arise from the solution. Solution ownership is a fundamental part of the role and it is expected that you would not only take this for the solutions you develop but support others to own and take responsibility for the solutions they are involved in. 

With support from other senior members of the wider team you will take responsibility for supporting the work of a small group of Data Engineers ensuring that they can deliver effective solutions on time. This will include supporting their progression and utilizing the tools that BlueOptima provides.

You will use tools ranging from advanced Machine Learning algorithms to Statistical approaches and will be able to select the best tool for the job. This means both being able to suggest cuttingedge approaches to problems and just as importantly identifying when a simpler approach will provide an effective solution. 

Your team:

The Data Engineering team at BlueOptima accelerates value delivery for internal and external stakeholders by providing productionready solutions & actionable insights. We cater to all products within BlueOptima supercharging their success through datadriven innovation.

You will be working handtohand with a diverse team with a variety of skill sets across the fields of Data Analytics Machine learning & Artificial intelligence. The majority of the team is currently based out of our Bangalore office.

Responsibilities and tasks: 

  • Solve business problems using advanced Machine Learning and statistical techniques 
  • Led a small team of Machine Learning Data Engineers providing technical leadership to mid/juniorlevel team members
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to understand requirements and opportunities to add value
  • Identify opportunities to add value using Machine Learning across the business
  • Identify and work to resolve bottlenecks in skills technology and processes restricting the teams ability to deliver excellence
  • Exploring vast datasets both structured and unstructured
  • Foster a culture of ownership. Ensuring others own the final solution; coordinating with different teams including engineering and clientside teams to take a solution from exploratory analysis to deployed in production. 
  • Facilitate taking solutions into production through active participation with the internal development teams
  • Spec the requirements to solve a problem identify the critical path and timelines and be able to give clear and defensible estimates quantifying any uncertainty
  • Takes datadriven approaches to validate assumptions/issues and track progress on changes being implemented

What You Need to Succeed at BlueOptima: 

  • Minimum of 4 years experience in developing solutions with at least 3 years using Machine learning Algorithms in industry.
  • Experience in leading and managing a team of ML/Data Engineers
  • An indepth understanding of a wide range of Machine Learning techniques and an understanding of which approach is best suited for the problem at hand (structured and illstructured)
  • Strong statistical analytics skills demonstrated through data engineering or similar experience.
  • Strong Python programming expertise in both applications and scripting simple solutions
  • A drive to not only identify a solution to a technical problem but to see it all the way through to inclusion in a product.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills

Good to have (Technical requirements/ Previous experience)

  • Significant experience with NLP techniques.
  • Experience working with managing software vulnerabilities in a coding environment.
  • An understanding of defensive coding practises.
  • Experience with automating tasks to maximise time for more important problems.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL or similar Rational Database.
  • Experience with Data Visualisation experience (via Grafana Superset Tableau or similar) is preferable.
  • Be comfortable explaining very technical concepts to nonexpert people

Qualifications :
