Job Description
Civil Service Title Administrative Engineer
* IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION CANDIDATE MUST BE SERVING PERMANENTLY IN THE TITLE OF ADMINISTRATIVE ENGINEER OR REACHABLE ON THE OPENCOMPETATIVE CIVIL SERVICE LIST EXAM # 1122 OR ELIGIBLE UNDER THE 5A PROGRAM. PLEASE INDICATE ON YOUR RESUME.*
Serves as Director of the Flag Engineering Section (FES); Manages and Oversees all (structural and safety related) Flag conditions Critical Findings (from tunnels) and NonStructural Condition Observations (NSCOs) and converts each of them into Repair Requests (RR) in the Structure Management System (SMS). The above reports are typically received from NYS DOT NYC DOT and other ThirdParty sources. The selected candidate will be responsible for the Supervision and Management of all the Flag Units Borough Engineers and administrative staff in the creation and closing of all RRs in SMS. RRs must be closed as per NYS DOT Bridge Inspection Manual guidelines. Responsible for the approval and management of RR monthly Indicators Oversees and follows up on all pending RR activities in SMS. RRs can be routed to inhouse maintenance outside contractors and other city agencies. Provides complex technical support for structural RRs supervises and manages the coordination of the RR work with external units agency divisions and governmental entities; Manages and Oversees the divisions nightduty officer roster which responds to offhour and weekend emergencies and ensures enough coverage in the five boroughs. Ensures that engineering staff follows all required codes and standards such as the NYS Construction Specifications Steel Construction Manual and others. Provides technical guidance in all bridge or structural component repair designs where needed. May be asked to review preliminary (capital) design drawings to ensure future maintenance ability; Selected candidate may be required to conduct field visits to NYSDOT and NYCDOT bridge inspection teams on elevated structures. Required to perform related administrative and technical duties.
Preferred Skills:
Preference will be given to candidate who are familiar with NY State Bridge Inspection Manual Flagging Procedure.
Preference will be given to candidate who possess a Motor Vehicle Drivers License valid in the State of New York in order to conduct field visits. This license must be maintained throughout duration of employment in this position.
Preference will be given to candidate who is familiar with AutoCAD to review drawings and/or sketches.

Qualifications :
1. A valid New York State License as a Professional Engineer and six (6) years of fulltime satisfactory experience in chemical engineering civil engineering electrical engineering environmental engineering mechanical engineering or plan examining work at least two (2) years of which must have been in an executive managerial or administrative capacity.
