Job Description

About the Office:

The Mayors Office of Criminal Justice (MOCJ) advises the Mayor of the City of New York on criminal justice policy. MOCJ develops and implements strategies with partners inside and outside government to reduce crime and incarceration and to promote fairness and legitimacy. MOCJ works with law enforcement city agencies nonprofits foundations and others to implement datadriven strategies that address current crime conditions prevent offending and build strong neighborhoods that ensure enduring safety.

About the Role:
The Fiscal Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring effective and efficient allocation of resources helping to manage accounting processes and conducting financial analysis to support the agencys initiatives and programs. Under the supervision of the Fiscal Director the Fiscal Analyst will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure complete accurate and timely processing of all invoices and performing core accounting and operations duties in alignment with NYC and MOCJs financial goals and objectives.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Review and approve invoices for accuracy completeness and compliance with established budgets contract terms and New York City Comptrollers directives; including working closely with internal departments and external vendors to resolve any discrepancies or issues in a timely manner.
Accurately input invoices into New York Citys Financial Management system and verify coding and availability of funds.
Assist with executing and overseeing various bookkeeping processes including accruals journal entries and account reconciliations.
Assist with analyzing financial data and producing relevant reports to support budgeting forecasting and decisionmaking processes.
Assist internal auditors with review of detailed expense support for invoices selected for preinvoice audits.
Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to develop and implement improvements to streamline operations and strengthen internal controls.
Stay informed about changes in accounting policies and regulations and making necessary adjustments to procedures and practices.
Effectively communicate financial information and analysis to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.


Qualifications :

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in 1 above.
