The PostConviction Justice Unit in the New York County District Attorneys Office (DANY) has an immediate opening for a PostConviction Justice Investigative Analyst. In this position the analyst will support attorneys in the PostConviction Justice Unit in reviewing claims of wrongful conviction and conducting reinvestigations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assist in the review of claims of wrongful conviction.
Conduct preliminary research into the factual and legal backgrounds of cases and present information to Assistant District Attorneys.
Track postjudgment motions wrongful conviction claims and correspondence.
Participate in witness interviews alongside Assistant District Attorneys and investigators.
Answer PostConviction Justice Unit line and assist callers with inquiries.
Draft proofread and citecheck legal memoranda and motions.
Perform analyst and administrative functions as assigned.
In addition to the Minimum Qualification Requirements candidates must possess the following:
Level 1 bachelors degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of experience either as a paralegal in the criminal justice field or equivalent.
Level 2 bachelors degree from an accredited college and three (3) years of experience either as a paralegal in the criminal justice field or equivalent.
Level 3 bachelors degree from an accredited college and four (4) years of experience either as a paralegal in the criminal justice field or equivalent.
Preferred Requirements/Skills:
Familiarity with the office and New York courts and New York criminal procedure.
Experience conducting criminal investigations or assessing evidence in a criminal case.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office PowerPoint Excel Lexis/Nexis and/or CLEAR.
Strong research and writing skills.
Ability to manage competing deadlines communicate effectively in a teamoriented environment and learn new applications and systems.
Superior organizational time management and communication skills.
Strong attention to detail selfmotivator and able to manage multiple assignments.
Ability to interact with all levels of staff court representatives and members of the public.

Additional Information:
Current office employees: To be eligible for a transfer or promotion staff must have already served at least 1 year in their current position and be in good standing. In addition must meet the minimum qualifications of the position.
Looking for candidates that could commit to one (1) year to the hiring unit.
Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position.

1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 above.
