- Regulatory Adherence: Ensure that construction activities throughout all phases of the subway project adhere to federal provincial and municipal environmental regulations applicable environmental permits approvals and other regulatory requirements.
- Environmental Monitoring: Monitor and assess environmental conditions during construction activities including air quality water quality and soil quality.
- Site Inspections: Conduct regular comprehensive inspections of construction sites to identify potential environmental hazards with a focus on areas such as watercourses erosion and sedimentation control measures spills effluent containment and dust management.
- Raising awareness: Communicate inspections findings recommendations and compliance requirements to project managers contractors and stakeholders by providing expert guidance and advice on environmental issues best practices and mitigation measures.
- Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with environmental consultants community groups and stakeholders to communicate environmental plans address concerns and ensure transparency.
- Compliance Reporting: Support and advise Environmental Team in comprehensive environmental compliance reports to regulatory authorities project managers and stakeholders on a regular basis.
- Training and Guidance: Provide training and guidance to project teams contractors and subcontractors on environmental best practices regulations and protocols.
- Sustainability Initiatives: Support sustainability initiatives within the project such as waste reduction energy efficiency green procurement and biodiversity conservation.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Environmental Science Environmental Engineering or a related field.
- Canadian Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CANCISEC) certification.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental compliance preferably in infrastructure construction projects.
- Indepth knowledge of federal provincial and local environmental regulations and permitting requirements.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing environmental management systems and compliance strategies.
- Strong analytical skills attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex environmental data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective reporting and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficient in the use of environmental monitoring equipment and software.
