Job Description
Ross University School of Medicine invites applications for a faculty post to cross teach in two of the disciplines taught within the Department of Medical Foundations namely Biochemistry Genetics Cell Biology Histology Physiology Pharmacology Pathology Gross Anatomy and Neuroscience. A preference will be given to candidates who can cross teach Pharmacology.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deliver effective lectures and facilitate active learning sessions incorporating modern teaching tools and technology.
- Prepare course materials including handouts practice questions and digital content (e.g. videos digital workbooks).
- Engage with students through various formats including oneonone interactions small group learning and academic advising.
- Develop administer and evaluate assessments including writing and reviewing NBMEstyle questions.
- Participate in curriculum review development and improvement initiatives within the department and across disciplines.
- Contribute to ongoing faculty development in medical education and serve on faculty committees as appointed or elected.
- Demonstrate proficiency in educational technology including elearning management systems audience response systems and online examinations.
- Comply with all policies and standards and perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair or Campus Dean.
Qualifications :
- PhD MD or other relevant terminal degree with 35 years of experience required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English required
- Flexibility and ability to work well on a team
- Willingness to reside in Barbados
- Proven teaching skills preferably in Pharmacology
- Prior teaching experience at a North American or UK medical school preferred
- Knowledge of postsecondary teaching/medical education principles and active teaching methods preferred
- Proficiency in educational technology and elearning systems desirable
