The Instructor is responsible for providing teaching/learning experiences in the clinical setting. This includes facilitating and evaluating student learning in clinical learning experiences and classroom labs. The Instructor has knowledge of the philosophy conceptual framework and objectives of the school and is cognizant of the philosophy standards objectives and policies of the Department and the Hospital Center.

I. Description of Competencies

A. Clinical/Technical/Service
Demonstrates the ability to perform clinical/technical/service/administrative tasks:
Guides clinical experiences in accordance with course objectives
Utilizes appropriate instructional modalities in teaching
Incorporates new teaching strategies as directed
Develops knowledge and skills in the area of teaching responsibility
Fosters a climate conducive to learning
Is knowledgeable of the learning material used in the course
Teaches and supervises students in clinical experiences/classroom labs as scheduled
Identifies students learning needs relevant to clinical objectives
Conducts clinical experience on units as assigned
Provides appropriate clinical assignments for students aimed at correlating theory with clinical practice
Conducts pre and post conferences that enhance student learning
Observes and guides students in carrying out their clinical assignments
Maintains progress reports for all assigned students
Reviews students overall progress with another course coordinator
Meets with the course coordinator as scheduled
Keeps students informed of their clinical progress and provides students with the opportunity for selfevaluation

B. Organizational/Managerial
Is oriented to the schools standards and requirements for clinical experiences
Maintains patient/employee confidentiality in the management of information
Observes the Health Care Systems compliance policies
Attends the Faculty Organization meetings when possible
Conducts orientation to the clinical area
Participates in school functions when possible
Adheres to school/faculty policies

C. Educational/Professional Development
Attends orientation and updates as scheduled
Meets regulatory licensure and annual health assessment requirements
Identifies learning strengths and needs and identifies mechanisms for improvement
Utilizes learning resources (online programs professional publications professional organizations etc.)
Utilizes selfevaluation and establishes goals aimed at continued personal and professional growth
Provides counseling to assigned students and refers students to course coordinator as necessary

D. Communication/Relationships
Demonstrates a professional courteous and respectful attitude in dealing with patients families and significant others
Displays courtesy tact and patience during interactions with all faculty members school personnel professional colleagues and hospital staff and extended community
Completes clinical evaluations for all assigned students
Recognizes individual differences in learning and supports students efforts in achieving course objectives
Maintains attendance and ontime arrival data for all assigned students
May be required to perform other duties as assigned or perform other duties when necessary.

Compensation
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $60 $65 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors including experience education and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentives differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
