Job Description
Position Overview:
The Assistant Principal STEM is a critical leadership role at KIPP Kansas City responsible for driving academic excellence student development and a positive school culture within KIPP Endeavor and content area (STEM). This role collaborates closely with other Assistant Principals the Assistant of Culture and student support teams to ensure alignment with the schools overall goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Leadership
Support the implementation of a rigorous KIPP KC STEM curriculum ensuring adherence to state standards and schoolwide goals.
Conduct gradespecific classroom observations and provide contentfocused feedback to teachers to drive continuous instructional improvement.
Collaborate with the Principal to create strategic plans for improving student achievement in STEM.
Teacher Leadership & Development:
Mentor and coach KIPP Endeavor STEM teachers fostering a culture of growth through targeted feedback and development opportunities.
Facilitate professional development opportunities to enhance teacher skills and knowledge.
Partner with Instructional Coaches to lead the planning and goal setting for your assigned grade levels ensuring alignment with schoolwide goals.
Supports the Principal in identifying and developing emerging leaders (Department Heads and/or Grade Level Chairs)
School Culture & Operations:
Partner with the Assistant of Culture and Principal to create a safe inclusive and positive learning environment for all students.
Assist in developing and implementing schoolwide behavior management plans and routines.
Serve as the first point of contact for school leadership regarding student interventions and parent engagement within assigned grade levels.
Oversee the daily operations within KIPP Endeavor STEM ensuring smooth functioning of classrooms lunch periods and student transitions.
Manage and support assigned faculty and staff within your grade levels addressing any concerns and ensuring they have the resources needed to be successful.
Data Analysis & DecisionMaking:
Analyze student data to identify areas of strength and opportunity within KIPP Endeavor STEM.
Collaborate with the Principal and other school leaders to develop datadriven instructional strategies and interventions.
Monitor the progress of students and track the effectiveness of implemented programs.
Communication & Collaboration:
Communicate effectively with parents students and teachers regarding academic progress school policies and upcoming events.
Collaborate with the Principal Assistant Principals Assistant Principal of Culture and other school leaders to achieve the schools overall goals.
Represent the school at meetings and events as needed.
Qualifications :
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree required; Masters degree in Education Educational Leadership or a related field preferred.
Minimum 35 years of experience in K8 STEM instruction including at least 2 years of leadership or teacherleader experience (e.g. Grade Level Lead Instructional Coach Content Lead).
Proven track record of instructional leadership and improving student learning outcomes.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong understanding of STEM curriculum development assessment and effective instructional practices.
Commitment to KIPP Kansas Citys mission and values including a deep belief in the potential of all students.
Deep knowledge of special education and ELL instructional strategies and legal requirements.
Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and develop educators.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proficiency in Spanish being highly advantageous.
Ability to analyze data identify trends and implement strategic interventions based on findings.

Work Environment
Reports to work MondayFriday and some weekends.
A typical school or office environment with frequent interruptions.
