Job Description
DESCRIPTION The Digital Acceleration organization provides services and common customer experiences that power ecommerce for Digital content and subscriptions including Kindle Audible Prime Video and Amazon Music Unlimited. As a Principal Engineer in the organization you will be providing technical leadership in the catalog pricing and promotions space. Your scope will include workflows that process hundreds of millions of transactions every month and Tier1 services that support billions of customer requests every month. You will own architecture tech strategy and delivery for new programs and simplification efforts across 30 services aimed at providing a seamless experience for customers shopping for Digital content and subscriptions on Amazons retail website. You will also be responsible for leading automation of business processes and decisions in the pricing and promotions domain. This track will include enhancing the Machine Learning infrastructure and models build by the team to scale to more usecases and using Generative AI to augment the models and automate manual processes such as audits of automated catalog and pricing decisions.
Key job responsibilities:
Be responsible for providing engineering thought leadership over multiple engineering and applied science teams
Define the North Star architecture and technical strategy to meet business and technology simplification needs
Assist in the career development of others actively mentoring individuals and the community on advanced technical issues and helping managers guide the career growth of their team members
Exert technical influence over multiple teams increasing their productivity and effectiveness by sharing your deep knowledge and experience.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering or related field.
10 years of experience in software development with a focus on building and simplifying largescale distributed systems.
Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java Python or C.
Strong problemsolving skills and the ability to make datadriven decisions in a fastpaced environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or related field.
Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
Demonstrated leadership experience in leading largescale software development projects.
Proven track record of driving automation initiatives and reducing operational overhead in complex technical environments.
