Diploma in transportation logistics business management or equivalent
Valid Qatar Driving License
Professional Experience:
3 5 years of relevant experience or similar role
Geographic Experience:
GCC experience preferred
Computer Skills:
Good knowledge of Office and web applications
Language Skills:
Business fluent English (both written and spoken)
Other languages are preferred
Market/Industry/Functional Knowledge:
Knowledge of Transport Operations procedures and processes
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Preshift Preparation
1. Maintain a clear handover between the shifts (Night/Day) to ensure key information flows between teams for productive and safe operations.
2. Conduct team toolbox talks (materials developed independently) with staff to share operational and safety information to continually improve ways of working.
Planning
3. Monitor and implement strategies and action plans to ensure that workforce is available for current and next day shifts (including consideration of fatigue management) for continuity of operations and uninterrupted service delivery
4. Communicate feedback and work closely with to Planning team on improvement opportunities and work closely to improve overall service and productivity
5. Coordinate and follow up with planning team Port of entry authorities clearance team shipping lines and drivers for the import export empty returns and domestic movements of shipments to ensure that shipment planning & execution is seamless
6. Coordinate with HSEQ to arrange the traffic escorts for general transport and in Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLIC) & Mesaieed Industrial City (MIC) for Out of Gauge (OOG) shipments so that land transportation is safely conducted in compliance with road laws
7. Organize Cargo & Route Surveys Load & Discharge sequence plans as per requirements of the Project and report back to Freight Coordinator (Service Delivery) necessary requirements for the arrangement of the appropriate freight forwarding decisions
8. Plan vacation of direct reports and ensure that the availability of resources is not adversely impacted
Scheduling
9. Validate that all requirements such as packing list invoice bill of lading pictures diagrams stowage plans etc. to meet load plan are available so that drivers can execute efficiently and any issues are resolved ahead of pick up or delivery.
10. Coordinate with port key personnel to arrange required equipment and workforce on time for the continuity of operations execution.
11. Review freight movement schedules and communicate with drivers regarding customer delivery expectations so that high customer service standards are maintained.
Monitor Track & Deliver
12. Oversee the team execution of the assigned load plan set forth by the planning team in accordance with assigned KPIs to maintain effective and efficient operations execution.
13. Manage an efficient clean and safe transport operation during the assigned shift (Night/Day) so that performance is high & the variability between day and night shift performance is minimized.
14. Oversee that all team paperwork and event updates associated with the transport operation to ensure it is managed timely and correctly by drivers and admin teams so that the shift remains organized and performance can be monitored.
15. Monitor all trucking activities proactively using the adequate systems in efficient cost effective and safe manner and in line with agreed procedures and customers service levels to maintain effective and efficient operations execution.
16. Escalate transport related issues to management and freight coordination (Service Delivery) when applicable so that issues can be resolved and customer service can be maintained to an elevated level.
17. Monitor for cargo & container damage or shortage and take steps to obtain damage & shortreceived reports form Port and loading sites so that liability is assigned to the right parties and costs are managed.
18. Contribute direct input such as onsite coordination and direction to drivers for operational (loading integrity lashing delivery sequence etc) and safety matters and be present on loading & offloading sites when needed to ensure that operational control is always maintained.
19. Coordinate operational movements with consideration of internal department that execute corrective and preventative maintenance to ensure that maintenance activities are planned and do not adversely impact operations due to downtime.
Close Delivery
20. Monitor that Drivers are communicating notification of Arrival at Facility Gate (AFG) & Departure at Facility Gate (DFG) and notification job is completed in TMS so that they can be assigned to next job to reduce idle time and optimize resource utilization.
Performance Management & Development
21. Coordinate arrange monitor both internal and external trainings of Drivers and keep adequate records to ensure compliance to laws and regulations.
22. Confront all cases of low performance openly and constructively to ensure that standards are lifted and maintained
Governance & Policy
23. Implement and adhere to all internal policy & procedures as well as all government regulations to ensure compliance
Other
24. Perform other jobrelated duties as assigned to maintain effective and efficient operations execution.
