Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

  • Translation and Interpretation

    • Translate written documents, reports, and correspondence from one language to another, ensuring accuracy, context, and tone are maintained.
    • Provide interpretation services during meetings, conferences, or events for non-native speakers.
    • Specialize in technical, legal, or industry-specific translations, as required, to ensure that all documents meet professional standards.
    • Ensure that the translation is culturally relevant, preserving nuances, idioms, and specific terms across languages.
  • Reviewing and Proofreading Translations

    • Review and proofread translated documents to ensure they meet quality standards and are error-free.
    • Edit translations for clarity, tone, grammar, and accuracy, ensuring that they are suitable for the target audience.
    • Coordinate with external translators or agencies, if needed, to ensure consistency and quality of translations.
  • Maintaining Translation Records

    • Keep accurate records of translations completed, including the client details, deadlines, and specific requirements.
    • Organize and store translated documents in a systematic manner to ensure easy retrieval for future reference.
    • Ensure that all translation documents are properly archived, adhering to organizational data protection and confidentiality policies.
  • Coordination with Other Departments

    • Collaborate with other departments (such as legal, marketing, HR, etc.) to ensure that translations meet the specific needs of each department.
    • Understand the specific terminology used in different fields, such as medical, legal, or technical, to provide accurate translations.
    • Work closely with project managers to ensure that translation tasks align with project timelines and objectives.
  • Managing Multilingual Communication

    • Assist in managing multilingual communication by translating official documents, emails, websites, and other materials.
    • Ensure that language barriers are minimized in communication with clients, customers, partners, and stakeholders from different linguistic backgrounds.
    • Provide customer support or communication services to non-native speakers, ensuring they have access to information and services in their preferred language.
  • Cultural Sensitivity and Accuracy

    • Ensure cultural sensitivity and appropriateness in translations, adapting the message to suit the cultural norms of the target language.
    • Avoid literal translations and take into account regional variations, idiomatic expressions, and cultural context when translating.
    • Conduct research or seek clarification on terms or expressions to ensure that translations are both accurate and culturally appropriate.

Desired candidate profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in in English/Arabic, Translation, Linguistics, Education, or a related field.
  • Minimum two years of experience in a similar translation or administrative role, preferably within an educational or government setting
  • Experience working with official documents, academic materials, or regulatory communications.
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written Arabic and English, with excellent grammatical and stylistic command of both languages.
  • Strong knowledge of formal Arabic used in official and educational contexts.
  • Strong cultural awareness and understanding
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and maintain confidentiality.
  • Commitment to safeguard and promote the well-being of children and young people
