What will you be doing
As a Ground Systems Engineer you will join our Harwell team to support our activities within the space sector. Youll play a vital role in designing developing and maintaining the infrastructure and software that enable complex space missions. This position offers the chance to collaborate with toptier clients and contribute to impactful projects.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Develop and enhance ground systems such as Mission Control Mission Planning and Ground Stations Interface Systems to ensure operational excellence.
- Define and manage requirements for the ground segment and its individual components ensuring they meet project needs.
- Collaborate with external suppliers taking ownership as a Product Owner or Technical Officer while supporting internal development teams.
- Partner with global Mission and Systems teams to ensure seamless integration and coordination across projects.
- Follow Agile (SCRUM) methodologies to deliver robust systems on time and within scope.
- Produce and maintain highquality project documentation (e.g. requirements validation plans and test reports).
- Perform verification and validation testing including simulations ensuring compliance with mission standards.
- Support and train operational teams on ground systems acting as a key technical liaison.

Qualifications :
Experience skills and qualifications required:
- University degree in Computer Science Telecommunications or other relevant engineering discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of industry experience in satellite ground systems (for example mission control system mission planning system) engineering.
- Good reporting skills (for documentation keeping track of changes etc).
- Overall understanding/knowledge of space mission design development and standard milestones.
- Experience with integration verification and validation of ground segment.
- Experience with Mission Control Systems preferably based on SCOS2000.
- Knowledge of C and/or Java programming languages.
- Knowledge of ECSS.
