As an Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer in the Design Engineering group the job role will include but is not limited to the highlevel tasks of project planning requirements development software architecture development software design and implementation software and product testing and documentation. The individual should also be familiar with the operation of electronics test equipment. The person in this role will act as a vital member of the product development team to design and develop new products and maintain current RTS Products. There is an opportunity to perform some of the work remotely but there will be occasions were frequent office / lab time is needed to interface with equipment and team members. The ideal candidate will have the desire to work with complex audio and control systems in a very fastpaced environment.
- Responsible for embedded firmware design and development.
- Responsible for the development of circuit board support packages (such as Bootloaders).
- Develop firmware for testing of products at various manufacturing sites for hardware verification.
- Implement communication protocols for system integration.
- Articulate requirements development / analysis and usecase development.
- Define system level test cases firmware testing and debugging.
- Document test cases and test results defects and/or issues in Defect Management Tool.
- Provide assistance in analyzing customer product quality or customer issues.
- Performs appropriate verification testing to determine root cause and then supports development of appropriate corrective actions for product failures.
Qualifications :
- B.S. in Electrical or Electronics Computer Science or mathematics or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 02 years of experience in a structured software development environment.
- Software Development Experience with Programming such as C C (in an embedded environment) is required.
- Knowledge of JSON and Python preferred.
- Development experience on embedded environment/platforms.
- Knowledge of embedded IDEs ( IAR Eclipse based Code Composer).
- Knowledge of SPI I2C Serial ( RS232/485) interfaces.
- Understanding of software design principles.
- Have experience in developing firmware using a RTOS.
- Understanding of Communication protocols (like UARTs UDP TCP/IP).
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills independent learner selfmotivated.
- Experience with hardware test equipment is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work in a highly structured process environment.
- Ability to work independently and a member of a team.
- Ability to multitask working on complex and often urgent field support needs while maintaining schedule and design efficacy and quality objectives on development projects.
- Have knowledge of FPGA code development preferred.
- Knowledge of hardware block diagrams and schematics.
- Knowledge of software development tool chain.
- May require up to 5% travel to local and international locations.
