Position Overview: Packaging Engineer is a key member of the supply chain and logistics team responsible for packing design and deployment in the organization. This role involves working closely with crossfunctional teams project managers IT personnel ensuring the sustainable robust and transportation worthy packing from source to till the final products are delivered to the customers.
Responsibilities:
Conceptualization and Design:
- Generate creative packaging concepts based on brand guidelines and market trends.
- Develop 2D and 3D packaging designs that effectively communicate product features and benefits.
Brand Alignment:
- Ensure that packaging designs align with the overall brand identity and messaging
- Collaborate with the marketing team to understand brand strategy and incorporate it into packaging designs.
Prototyping and Testing:
- Create prototypes and mockups to test the feasibility and functionality of packaging designs
- Gather feedback from crossfunctional teams and make necessary adjustments to designs.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Stay informed about packaging regulations and ensure that designs comply with industry standards and legal requirements.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with product development teams to understand product specifications and incorporate them into packaging designs.
- Collaborate with the packaging vendor to ensure the feasibility of manufacturing the designed packaging.
Cost Saving:
- Identify the potentials for cast savings projects through improve the pack density optimization exploring the new sources to bring competition in the existing vendor bases alternate packing solutions returnable packaging etc.
Vendor management:
- Vendor development through trainings identifying the new vendors quality validations etc.
- Playing an important role in contracting for one way and returnable in collaboration with purchasing.
Benchmarkingo
- Getting update on market trends
- Benchmarking within Bosch and other automobile sectors
- Implementation of EPR guidelines as per Govt. regulatory terms.
Digitalization
- Integration of the ERP and Non ERP data
- Visualization of KPIs ( E.g. power BI reports)
Competency needed:
- Experience in Packaging Design & Development in Automotive industry.
- Strong project management skills including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
- Problemsolving mindset and the ability to analyze complex issues and provide effective solutions.
Qualification:
- Bachelors/ masters degree in supply chain management or engineering graduates in Mechanical
- 2 to 3 years of experience in packaging domain.
- Postgraduate from IIP (Mandatory)
