AtkinsRalis is deeply committed to addressing the global challenge of climate change. The AtkinsRalis Climate team works across technical advisory in climate change policy climate risk adaptation and resilience international development climate finance climaterelated financial disclosure (TCFD) Net Zero transition and naturebased solutions.

Our Climate teams work alongside experts involved in Net Zero transition planning working across multiple sectors including transport water power and buildings and places.

Position Summary

Our Advisory Services teams expanding portfolio of projects and clients require advice on climate risk and adaptation across their assets and operations and we are looking to recruit several people with an understanding of climate risks and climate change advisory services and climate modelling.

For this role we require driven Consultants to lead and contribute to our work on climate risk assessments adaptation planning climate disclosure and the development of weather and climate services.

The successful candidates will have a background in some or all the following areas:

  • Our climate change work is diverse and includes for example the following:

  • Water sector (e.g. assessing the impact of climate change on future water supplies advising on adaptation options and TCFD reporting)

  • The transport sector (e.g. climate risk assessment across transport assets and operations reviewing technical standards and identifying areas which may require additional measures to account for climate change projections)

  • Energy sector (e.g. evaluating the financial impacts of climate change across supply chains and operations)

  • Cities and local authorities and municipalities (e.g. climate risk assessments adaptation plans and how to integrate climate resilience into investment decisionmaking)

  • Working with clients to help them meet climaterelated reporting requirements (TCFD ParisAlignment EU Taxonomy Adaptation Reporting Power etc) and develop strategies to manage climate risks.

  • Multilateral development banks and governments (e.g. enhancing organisational capacity by developing climate risk frameworks climate risk assessments for infrastructure investments and providing advisory support for international development projects including climate finance)

  • In general the work combines strategic planning applied science and economics climate modelling evidencebased policy advice and engineering supported by other AtkinsRalis specialist teams in these areas.

Responsibilities:

  • To work effectively as part of a team and with other professionals (sustainability professionals environmental scientists engineers planners economists) throughout AtkinsRalis and our partners to provide a consistent and integrated service to our clients.

  • To contribute to developing offers for our clients to win new projects.

  • To support the delivery of new digital products and and work collaboratively with other AtkinsRalis businesses.

  • Depending on experience to support delivery of key service areas such as climate risk assessment adaptation & resilience planning climate finance climate & weather services

Professional Experience / Education & Qualifications

  • A degree in a relevant technical discipline (geography environmental science climate science environmental economics or engineering);

  • Desirable that the candidate has a relevant Masters or PhD in a relevant discipline;

  • Ideally the candidate has prior postgraduate experience in the climate change industry preferably in a consulting/ advisory role;

  • Experience in working in project teams/workstreams and in developing proposals/bids to win work from clients is a positive;

  • Some skills in GIS and coding skills in Python or R are positive but not essential (e.g. experience in climate risk mapping and experience in processing climate change data);

  • Highlevel proficiency in Excel and other Office tools (Word Teams PowerPoint).

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; capable of presenting detailed subject matter to various stakeholders.

  • Excellent organizational abilities.

  • Willingness and ability to interact with regulatory agencies stakeholders and clients and develop effective teamwork relationships.

  • Fluency in written and spoken English knowledge of Arabic would be helpful.

  • Willingness to travel within the GCC region.

  • Strong report writing verbal and presentation skills and ability to review the work of others to ensure quality.

  • Able to prioritise and work effectively under pressure.

  • Be flexible adaptable and prepared to take on new challenges and work from other AtkinsRalis or client office locations.

  • Be highly selfmotivated possessing strong enthusiasm and commitment to delivering sustainable outcomes.
