MEP Manager

Roles and responsibilities

The Manager - Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP), part of the Design Studio Technical Team reporting to the Head of Technical, will provide technical support for MEP services across projects in Egypt, develop and implement MEP design standards, and promote sustainability and innovation aligned with Net Zero targets at Majid Al Futtaim Properties.

ROLE PROFILE

• Assist in developing and documenting MEP design standards for the Mall of Egypt Business Park and other developments.
• Engage with internal stakeholders to gather input data for MEP design standards and Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders regarding MEP, sustainability, and innovation.
• Liaise with local authorities to ensure MEP standards comply with current codes and regulations.
• Review and benchmark projects to ensure compliance with MEP design standards.
• Ensure the design intent and standards are defined and maintained from project inception to handover.
• Support in improving project delivery strategies involving consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
• Conduct evaluations of completed projects to assess if objectives were met and to inform future projects.
• Promote technological advancements and ensure the company remains a leader in the MEP industry.

• Project Management and Coordination:

  • Oversee the design, installation, and commissioning of MEP systems for construction projects.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to integrate MEP systems into building designs.
  • Develop project timelines, milestones, and budgets for MEP systems, ensuring they align with overall project goals.

• Team Leadership:

  • Manage and supervise MEP engineers, technicians, and contractors working on projects.
  • Provide training, support, and mentorship to the MEP team to ensure high performance and skill development.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to ensure smooth communication and progress tracking.

Desired candidate profile

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 10-12 years of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) experience in the retail sector in Egypt or the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
Proven ability to lead and motivate MEP design teams on large, complex projects.
Strong expertise in design principles, construction processes, and relevant health and safety regulations.
Possess knowledge in promoting sustainability and familiarity with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) certification processes.
Excellent communication skills with a flexible approach to problem-solving and change management.
Support in improving project delivery strategies involving consultants, contractors, and suppliers.

Promote technological advancements and ensure the company remains a leader in the MEP industry.
