Role Overview
The Engineering Manager for the Structures Group will lead a team of engineers in the design analysis and testing of structural components for our launch vehicles and other structures. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and managerial skills to drive projects from conception through to execution ensuring high standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of structural engineers fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Project Management: Oversee project timelines and resource allocation to ensure successful completion of engineering projects.
Technical Oversight: Provide technical guidance in the design and analysis of structural components ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Collaboration: Work closely with crossfunctional teams including propulsion avionics and manufacturing to integrate structural designs with overall vehicle systems.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process enhancements and lead initiatives to improve efficiency and effectiveness within the team.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor s or Master s degree in Aerospace Engineering Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Experience: 1215 years of experience in aerospace structures engineering with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in structural analysis tools (e.g. ANSYS NASTRAN).
Strong understanding of materials science as it pertains to aerospace applications.
Experience with finite element analysis (FEA).
Managerial Skills:
Proven track record of leading engineering teams and managing complex projects.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders.
Strong problemsolving abilities and decisionmaking skills.
Preferred Attributes:
Experience in the design and development of launch vehicles or spacecraft.
Passion for innovation and a strong interest in the space industry.
