Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

The Kids Club Attendant is responsible for supervising and entertaining children during their stay at a hotel or resort, organizing age-appropriate activities, and ensuring the safety and well-being of the children under their care. This position requires a friendly and energetic personality, along with a strong ability to manage children and create a fun environment. The attendant should be attentive to safety, respectful of parents’ instructions, and able to manage various children’s needs at the same time.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supervision and Safety:

    • Supervise children at all times while in the Kids Club, ensuring their safety and well-being.
    • Maintain a safe environment by enforcing rules and guidelines for behavior and activity participation.
    • Ensure that children are signed in and out by authorized parents or guardians, and monitor for any allergies or special requirements.
    • Respond to emergencies quickly and appropriately, following established safety procedures.
  2. Activity Planning and Organization:

    • Plan, organize, and facilitate age-appropriate activities for children, such as arts and crafts, games, sports, storytelling, and themed events.
    • Keep the activities engaging and fun, ensuring that each child is involved and enjoys the experience.
    • Create schedules for activities, ensuring there is a good mix of active and calm time for children.
    • Encourage creativity, learning, and social interaction through structured play and group activities.
  3. Interaction and Communication with Children:

    • Engage with children in a positive, friendly, and patient manner, encouraging participation and building rapport.
    • Listen to and address any concerns children may have, ensuring that they feel comfortable and secure.
    • Foster positive behavior by reinforcing rules and offering rewards for good conduct.
  4. Communication with Parents:

    • Provide updates to parents about their children’s activities and behavior during their time at the Kids Club.
    • Ensure that parents are informed of any special needs, incidents, or concerns regarding their child’s experience.
    • Follow up with parents if any issues arise or if there are special requests for their child.
  5. Maintaining a Clean and Organized Environment:

    • Ensure the Kids Club area is clean, tidy, and organized, including the safe storage of toys and materials.
    • Set up and clean up after activities, maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment at all times.
    • Check for any safety hazards in the environment and address them immediately (e.g., sharp objects, spills).
  6. Providing Emotional Support:

    • Offer emotional support to children who may be shy, homesick, or need extra encouragement.
    • Provide a nurturing and supportive environment that makes children feel welcome and valued.
  7. Monitoring Health and Safety:

    • Be aware of any allergies, medical conditions, or special requirements for each child, ensuring proper precautions are taken.
    • Administer basic first aid as needed and report any accidents or injuries to management and parents.
  8. Inventory and Supply Management:

    • Maintain an inventory of toys, arts and crafts supplies, games, and other Kids Club materials.
    • Ensure that supplies are well-stocked and organized, and report any shortages to the supervisor.

Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children and parents.
Patience, kindness, and empathy to create a nurturing and supportive environment for children.
Energetic and enthusiastic personality to keep children engaged and entertained.
Ability to manage groups of children and ensure their safety and well-being.
Knowledge of age-appropriate activities that stimulate learning and development.
Organizational skills to set up, execute, and clean up activities.
Strong problem-solving skills to address any issues that may arise during activities.
Ability to work as part of a team and coordinate with other staff members.
