Responsibilities
Job Title: PLC Engineer
Key Responsibilities:
- PLC Programming and Development:
- Design write and test PLC programs to meet the requirements of the automation systems.
- Modify existing PLC programs based on process changes upgrades and troubleshooting.
- Ensure programs are optimized for safety efficiency and minimal downtime.
- System Integration:
- Integrate PLCs with other control systems including SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces) and various industrial sensors and devices.
- Work with other engineering teams to ensure successful integration and communication between systems.
- Installation and Commissioning:
- Plan and oversee the installation of control systems ensuring all equipment is set up correctly.
- Commission and test systems in realtime troubleshoot any issues that arise and make necessary adjustments.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
- Diagnose and resolve issues with PLC systems ensuring minimal downtime.
- Perform routine maintenance and system updates to ensure PLC systems operate effectively.
- Documentation:
- Create detailed documentation for all programs wiring diagrams and system modifications.
- Maintain records of system configurations modifications and any troubleshooting efforts.
- Collaboration and Support:
- Provide technical support to plant operators and maintenance teams.
- Collaborate with equipment vendors and other engineers to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions.
- Train operators and maintenance personnel on the correct use and troubleshooting of PLC systems.
- Project Management:
- Manage automation projects including cost estimation project planning and coordinating with suppliers and contractors.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time within budget and meet performance requirements.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in PLC programming languages (Ladder Logic Structured Text Function Block Sequential Function Charts).
- Experience with various PLC systems (Siemens AllenBradley Mitsubishi etc.).
- Strong knowledge of SCADA systems HMIs and industrial networking (Ethernet Modbus Profibus etc.).
- Understanding of electrical schematics and control panel design.
- Excellent problemsolving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering Automation or a related field.
- Experience in industrial automation manufacturing or similar environments.
- Certifications in relevant PLC platforms (optional but desirable).
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication skills for crossteam collaboration.
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Good timemanagement and projectmanagement skills.
